About Wizards Thatch

Wizards Thatch forms part of the historic 400 years old Summerhill Cottages which lie at the foot of The Edge, a reputed mystical sandstone outcrop which stands guard over the Cheshire Plain at Alderley Edge. It takes its name from a local legend involving a Wizard, King Arthur, his knights and a farmer on his way to market.

On the very road where this encounter is said to have taken place lies the thatched cottage - an old dwelling when this tale was first recorded in 1753.

Wizards Thatch has three self contained luxurious 5 star suites filled with sumptuous leather furniture, antique prints, and each room has its own indulgent character – having a unique location tucked away less than a minute from the centre of Alderley Edge.

The Camelot Suite boasts one of the largest and most comfortable four poster beds in the County, draped in red and gold tapestries.

The Merlin Suite is quite unique with its array of  Jacobean colours which not only decorate the timbered walls but the heavily beamed ceiling as well. (please see our guest book).

The Wizardry is a totally self contained suite and is in the oldest part of the Thatch.
